Horror bomb threat on London flight as major airport closed in huge emergency
A LOT Polish Airlines flight from London Heathrow landed safely at Warsaw-Modlin Airport on Tuesday morning after a reported bomb threat prompted its diversion from Warsaw Chopin Airport.
According to an airport statement cited in the original report, authorities received the alert at 9:54 a.m. local time. The Boeing 737 MAX, carrying 181 people, touched down at 10:01 a.m., and emergency services responded.
Warsaw-Modlin temporarily closed following the incident. Local reports said operations were suspended until further notice, although no reopening time was provided.
Around half an hour after the aircraft landed, the airport announced that passengers had begun leaving the plane. They were to wait inside the arrivals hall while authorities continued the required safety procedures.
Airport officials said they were handling the response in accordance with established protocols and declined to release further details about the emergency operation.
Separately, Polish media reported that emergency crews had also attended an SAS flight arriving at Warsaw Chopin from Copenhagen. The supplied report did not establish the reason for that response or whether the two incidents were connected.
Chopin was reportedly still operating, but travelers were warned of possible delays and disruptions.
The information available did not confirm whether any suspicious device had been found aboard the LOT aircraft.
